On your Mac, choose Add your iPhone. You can also find pairing under Settings → Remote access.

Scan the code with the companion's scanner or your iPhone Camera, then confirm the pairing. The code is single-use and expires after five minutes. Ask the Mac for a new code if it expires.

Once connected, the phone receives synced conversation history. Supported remote actions travel through the hub to the Mac. Read the connection state before expecting a new request or decision to reach it.

The phone's copy of a conversation is different from the runtime doing the work. Seeing history does not mean the Mac is currently reachable.

When the Mac is unavailableCopy link to section: When the Mac is unavailable

A sleeping, disconnected, or signed-out Mac cannot handle remote work as though it were online. Check its connection and account state. If a send is not confirmed, follow the state shown in the app rather than immediately sending the same request again.

Notifications depend on the phone's notification settings and the synced state. Open the conversation to see whether it still needs your attention.

Read accounts and sync for what is shared between devices.
