Connect Codex
If you already work with Codex, the app uses that runtime on your Mac. Let's check the connection before asking it to do anything.
Before you startCopy link to section: Before you start
Complete app setup. Install and authenticate the Codex CLI using its official installation and sign-in instructions. The app does not install the runtime for you.
Your app account and Codex account are separate. The Codex runtime owns its provider credentials.
Add the connectionCopy link to section: Add the connection
Open Settings, then Connections. Use the add-connection control and choose Codex. The app checks whether the executable is available and whether it is authenticated.
If the connection asks you to sign in, choose Sign in with ChatGPT and complete the official browser flow. An existing valid local login can be reused.
Check the resultCopy link to section: Check the result
The connection should be available before you send a message. If it says Not installed, check that the runtime is installed and open Diagnostics for the executable check. If authentication is required, complete sign-in and check the connection again.
Start new workCopy link to section: Start new work
Choose the connection and a working folder when starting a conversation. The folder determines where the local agent works. The app manages conversations created through the app; do not expect your existing terminal conversations to be imported automatically.
Continue with your first conversation. Permission and model choices should match the work you intend to give the agent. Leaving the runtime defaults in place lets its existing configuration apply.
